Mac Technology Service Manager

Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) University Library (UL) is seeking a Mac Technology Services Manager to join our Client Support Team. Reporting directly to the Director of Information Systems, this position manages our Apple infrastructure, by strategically planning and maintaining public and staff technology, including monitoring and responding to network protection and patch management issues.

Responsibilities:

The principle responsibilities of this position are to:

  • Work with the Director of Information Systems and in collaboration with Operations Team members, to strategically plan, recommend purchases, and maintain public and staff technology infrastructure, including monitoring and responding to network protection and patch management issues.
    • Manage, design, develop, implement and test hardware, software, operating systems and applications within the library computing environment. Create software solutions and builds within using programming and scripting knowledge of macOS, iOS, and JAMF.
    • Coordinate mobile device management solutions for the UL.
  • Serve as Tier 2 and 3 on-call library technical consultant expert, guiding, training and leading technical library computer and technology consulting support for library personnel and patrons.
  • Take a lead role in supporting and maintaining technology for Mac desktop and laptop computers throughout University Library.
    • Manage, train and coach full time Client Support student employees, who also participate in these activities.
    • Lead Mac technology environment planning and provide IT Pro support for assigned departments within University Library.
  • Assist in developing policies, procedures and systems to ensure the security of hardware, software and IU data of University Library systems and users. Provide Mac security leadership and implementation practices for both public and staff devices and activities.
  • Lead and provide support for key technology projects for the library.

Required Qualifications and skills:

Bachelor degree, plus 2 years of experience providing technical computing support.

  • Understanding of mobile technology (Devices, Operating Systems, and Applications), network fundamentals (LAN/WAN and Wireless), Internet messaging protocols (ssh, SSL, SMTP, IMAP, MAPI) and IP Telephony
  • Strong understanding of Mac hardware and software, Group Policy Objects management, patch management, network fundamentals, IP protocol suite and applications, Exchange and various email client software

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience providing Mac computing support to users via direct consultation, support and systems design. Prior supervisory and project management experience.

Compensation and Application

This is a full-time (40 hours/week) position. Minimum compensation is $53,500. Excellent benefits include 30 personal days, 9 paid holidays, health, dental, and life insurance options, plus enrollment in IU’s defined contribution retirement plan. All full-time staff members are also eligible for IU’s tuition benefit. This position is considered exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and in accordance with university policies and will not earn compensatory time for hours worked over standard 40-hour work week.
