Alibris
Similar in scope and function to Advanced Book Exchange above, this is an internet database of used and rare bookdealers across the country. Alibris is useful in locating items and estimating market value.

Antiquarian Booksellers' Association of America
This professional association of more than 330 booksellers has information on book appraisal, internet book searching and book fairs.

The Bibliographical Society of America
This society is devoted to bibliographical study of all kinds. They publish an annual journal and a number of monographs dealing with bibliographic issues.
 
The Bibliographical Society of the University of Virginia
Serving to advance and promote an interest in books, manuscripts, graphic arts and bibliography, the BSUV publishes the annual Studies in Bibliography, a leading journal of book history. The website offers a searchable archive.

Book Arts Press
A leading bibliographic studies laboratory in the United States, this University of Virginia program sponsors the annual Rare Books School.

The Book Information Website
This site offers an extensive chronology of book history.
 
New York Public Library Research Guide to the History of Books and Printing
An excellent resource guide for learning more about the history of books and printing; includes a lengthy bibliography.

Society for the History of Authorship, Reading and Publishing (SHARP)
An international network of book-historians, SHARP holds an annual conference and publishes both a journal and a quarterly newsletter.
