On This Day in IUPUI History: June 6, 2006

June 6, 2006.

On this day, Laura Bush, wife of United States president George W. Bush, visited IUPUI to speak at the first regional conference of Helping America's Youth, an initiative first announced in President Bush's State of the Union speech in 2005. The two-day conference took place in the University Place Conference Center. In her speech, Bush encouraged citizens to involve themselves in the lives of children.

While on campus, Bush met with a number of IUPUI leaders, including Chancellor Charles R. Bantz and his wife, Professor Sandra Petronio (see our Photo of the Week for this week for confirmation).
