Paul Moffett chosen to receive statewide outstanding librarian award

Paul Moffett has been selected to receive the 2018 Indiana Library Federation (ILF) Outstanding Librarian Award. The ILF Outstanding Librarian Award honors and recognizes excellence and innovative leadership in the development of library service and for remarkable service to the profession.


Paul is the head of access services at IUPUI University Library. After completing a Masters of Library Science in 2006, Paul worked for four years in circulation at the IUPUI Ruth Lilly Law Library. He began his service with the IUPUI University Library in 2010 as Assistant Supervisor of Access Services. In 2015, he was promoted to the position of Head of Access Services for the University Library.


Paul Moffett collaborative research has contributed in significant ways to improved practices in the University Library. He has presented and published with a number of colleagues on topics ranging from stacks management, to the provision of reference support, and space usage and planning. Paul’s work in space usage and stacks management helped pave the way for $1.75 million in support from IUPUI campus administration to redevelop two public floors in the University Library. His focus on student and patron customer service is exceptional.


Paul has been a member of the Indiana Library Federation for five years and is currently serving on the ILF Professional Development Committee and as the chair of the 2018 Annual Conference Poster Session. Paul is also a member of the American Library Association (ALA) and serves on the Technology Community of Practice Circulation/Access Services committee of the Library Leadership & Management Association (LLAMA), a division of ALA.


Paul volunteers at library outreach events for students during welcoming events and finals week, and in his spare time Paul enjoys tennis, reading, and playing guitar.
