UL Eliminates Fines for Most Items!

University Library is excited to announce that beginning July 1, 2021, overdue fines on books from our collection and the Herron Art Library collection will no longer be charged to library visitors. Our staff recognizes how quickly overdue fines can accumulate, and that financial hardships and barriers to accessing other important university services are caused when library fines impede a student’s path. We’re eliminating overdue fines in order to help.

Borrowers should still be mindful that fines on UL items with short-term borrowing limits – such as course reserve items – will remain in place. Borrowers should also be aware that books borrowed from other IU campus libraries may be subject to overdue fines, so it’s important to monitor due dates so a borrower can either return or renew them. You can easily see the items you have checked out, and renew them, by clicking on “My Account” in IUCAT.

For more details on the remaining fines for course reserves, interlibrary loan materials, recalled items, or lost materials, go to https://ulib.iupui.edu/borrowing/fines.
