This workshop will focus on use of Open Refine – a free, open source tool – for working with and cleaning ‘messy’ research data. The class will provide an overview of Open Refine, its features, and a hands-on demonstration of its functionality using publicly available datasets. In addition, best practices around managing research data in spreadsheets will be covered.

Desktop computers will be available to registered class participants (up to 25). Attendees are welcome to bring personal laptops though not required.
