As the U.S. government’s official web portal, FirstGov is designed to make it easy for the public to get U.S. government information and services on the web. Curiously, FirstGov.gov also seeks to be the “catalyst for a growing electronic government,” which has an ominously Orwellian ring to it, but the sight is actually a very useful compendium of helpful links and services.
GPO Access
GPO Access is a service of the U.S. Government Printing Office that provides free electronic access to a wealth of important information products produced by federal government. The information provided on this site is the official, published version and the information retrieved from GPO Access can be used without restriction, unless specifically noted otherwise. Use GPO Access to search or browse official full-text information from the three branches of federal government. Databases are updated based on their print equivalent and generally date back to 1984.
National Institutes of Health
A part of the US Department of Health and Human Services, this website offers gateways to various national institutes such as the National Human Genome Research Institute and the National Library of Medicine.
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS)
The DHHS website contains news items and opportunities, as well as links to important government agencies such as the Food and Drug Administration, the Centers for Disease Control, and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
U.S. Food and Drug Administration
The FDA is charged with assuring that only safe and effective products reach our markets and helping the public to get accurate, science-based information needed to improve health. The website contains a great deal of information on FDA regulations, enforcement, initiatives, publications, and contacts.
Indiana State Department of Health
This is the official website of the Indiana Department of Health. It contains information on a variety of topics having to with health and health administration at the state government level, including state regulations, data & statistics, health assistance programs, and new initiatives.
