Below is a highly selective list of some of the top journals in the field, most of which are available in electronic format. Check the Library Catalog (IUCAT) for other formats and dates of availability.

This peer-reviewed quarterly journal provides a forum to explore the theoretical, technical, and strategic elements of total quality management in health care. Each issue of Quality Management in Health Care (QMHC) includes an in-depth interview with a health care attorney, information on basic quality management tools and processes, and articles to encourage informal communication among those involved in the field of health care quality management. QMHC also provides reviews of important books, seminars, and other critical resources.

JAMA, published continuously since in 1883, is an international peer-reviewed general medical journal published 48 times per year. JAMA is the most widely circulated medical journal in the world. 

iupui Journal of Healthcare Management
The Journal of Healthcare Management is the official journal of the American College of Healthcare Executives. JHM offers healthcare management articles to inform and guide executives, managers, educators, and researchers. JHM also contains regular columns written by experts and practitioners in the field that discuss management-related topics and industry trends. Each issue presents an interview with a leading executive and an ACHE Fellow Project selected as one of the year's best.

Marketing Health Services deals with difficult and controversial issues facing healthcare marketers today, including e-health, DTC marketing, legislative developments, healthcare ROI, and database marketing. Regular features include case studies as well as roundtables with leading thinkers in the field.

Frontiers' self-described "bookazine" format is designed to give the reader “the deep understanding gained from books but in a shorter format, like a magazine.” Each issue focuses on one healthcare management topic, providing readers with a balanced view of current controversies in the field. Frontiers is written by experts on the topic and includes commentary from the field.

The Milbank Quarterly features peer-reviewed original research, policy review, and analysis, as well as commentary from academics, clinicians, and policymakers. It offers in-depth assessments of the social, economic, historical, legal, and ethical dimensions of health and health care policy.

The Academy of Management Journal (AMJ) is ranked among the top five most influential and frequently cited management journals for management and administration scholars and others interested in researching new administration. 

iupui New England Journal of Medicine
The New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) is a weekly general medical journal that publishes new medical research findings, review articles, and editorial opinion on a wide variety of topics of importance to biomedical science and clinical practice. Material is published with an emphasis on internal medicine and specialty areas including allergy/immunology, cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, hematology, kidney disease, oncology, pulmonary disease, rheumatology, HIV, and infectious diseases.
