Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Laboratories and Research Centers
The mission of the Environmental Protection Agency is to protect human health and the environment. Since 1970, EPA has been working for a cleaner, healthier environment for the American people. This is a link to a variety of labs and research projects carried out by the EPA .
NOAA Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory
GLERL was formed in 1974 to provide a focus for NOAA's environmental and ecosystem research in the Great Lakes. Presently GLERL's research resides under NOAA's Ecosystem Goal Team, specifically in the Ecosystem Research Program. Their research is organized into four research programs: ecological prediction, aquatic invasive species, physical environmental prediction, and environmental observing systems.

The Nature Conservancy is the leading conservation organization working to protect the most ecologically important lands and waters around the world for nature and people. The mission of The Nature Conservancy is to preserve the plants, animals and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive.
The Jane Goodall Institute
The Jane Goodall Institute “advances the power of individuals to take informed and compassionate action to improve the environment of all living things.” The seek to increase primate habitat conservation, increase awareness of issues relating to the environment and other animals, and promote the welfare of chimpanzees and other creatures.
International Institute for Sustainable Development
Founded in 1990, the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) promotes change towards sustainable development. Through research and communication of their findings, they seek to influence decision-makers in government, business, NGOs and other sectors to develop and implement environmentally sensitive policies.
Information Center for the Environment
The Information Center for the Environment (ICE) is an environmental information brokerage and research laboratory in the Department of Environmental Science & Policy at the University of California, Davis, under the direction of Professor Jim Quinn and Academic Administrator Mike McCoy. ICE specializes in the development and dissemination of geospatial data and technologies; the development of robust data architectures dedicated to the cataloging of global environmental information; and the creation of decision support systems geared toward improving the capabilities of resource managers in a variety of sectors.
