Shotaro Kimura and Charlotte M. A. Peake: Sword and Blossom Poems (1900?)
This is a collection of Japanese tanka poems (here referred to as 'blossom poems') from the tenth-century as well as a few modern poems in the Chinese style (the 'sword poems'). The illustrations were done in collaboration with the translators to reflect the symbolism and emotional tone of each piece.
Sword and Blossom Poems is hand-written on folded and uncut leaves (a traditional Japanese style), and is hand-stitched. It is a three-volume set contained in a blue hand-lettered slip case.
