William Kothe photograph, 1885

William Kothe was a Forty-eighter who became a prominent member of the Indianapolis German-American community. He was an active member of the Indianapolis Maennerchor for many years. He also served as an officer of the German-English Independent School and was a member of the Indianapolis Freethinkers' Society and Der Deutsche Klub.
