Lyra Casino stock certificate, 1898

The Lyra singing society was organized in January, 1873, and within ten years had over 400 members. It went into decline in the late 1880s, however, and was dissolved as a musical society in 1889. It was reorganized first into the Lyra Bowling Club and then into the Lyra Casino. This stock certificate for the casino was issued to Clemens Vonnegut, Jr., on January 15, 1898.
