January 6, 1975.
On this day, the IUPUI Sagamore, the student newspaper, published schedule corrections for registration for spring-semester classes. As the newspaper noted, "THESE CHANGES ARE NOT printed in your schedule." The notice served as evidence that the newspaper was the best, most up-to-date means of communicating to students any additions to the list of courses available to them. Furthermore, everyone read the Sagamore, which was an important medium to reach staff and faculty as well as students.
On the front page of the January 6, 1975, Sagamore, editors published a banner headline, "Return of the Hordes!" and ran a photo of thousands of people walking north on Meridian Street. The headline expressed the sentiment that the new semester's advent would bring back hordes of IUPUI students to campus.
