Course Reserves

The reserve services at our two libraries provide IUPUI instructors the means to make hard-copy media (e.g., books, DVDs, printed course packs) available to their students for short-term checkout from the library's Service & Information Desk. Instructors select one of three short-term checkout periods for each item: 2 hour (library use only), 24 hour, or 7 day.

How to place hard-copy items on course reserves at the library
1. Log in to the course reserves system using your campus network ID and password
2. Select the "Manage My Shelved Course Reserves" option that appears in the left margin.

If the library owns the requested item, your work is done!  If you own the item, simply deliver it to the library's Service & Information Desk after submitting your online request. Only original media materials or licensed copies can be accepted for shelved reserves (no photocopies).

To designate a proxy (e.g., an administrative assistant or a graduate student) to serve as your agent, contact Liz Vine by email at or by phone at 317-278-7836.  We will return your call or email within 24 hours during the business week.  During peak times, your call or email will be returned as soon as possible.

If you need help logging in, please contact the Service & Information desk at 317-274-0472.

For digital copies of journal articles and book chapters owned by University Library, see our Article Delivery Service.  In addition the Center for Teaching and Learning is available to assist with Oncourse or Canvas and with the scanning of personal documents.
