Contact your subject librarian for assistance with:

  •     improving the quality and credibility of sources used by your students
  •     ensuring your students know how to find, use, and evaluate information effectively and ethically
  •     guiding your students to discipline- and subject-specific resources

Information Literacy (IL) can be integrated into your syllabus without adding significantly to your workload or time commitments; your librarian will tailor assistance to your needs.

Teaching Library Concepts

What your librarian can do

  • Lead targeted IL instruction for your classes in-person or online, in the library or in your classroom.*
  • Make suggestions for tweaking assignments and also help with assignment design to scaffold in appropriate IL outcomes.
  • Partner with you to review submitted student work, particularly cited sources, annotated bibliographies, etc.
  • Create subject and course-specific research guides to point your students to appropriate resources.
  • Add assessment quizzes for library tutorials to your Canvas course site.
  • Meet with your students individually or in small groups for research consultations.*

What you can do on your own

  • Integrate the library's suite of tutorials or other digital learning objects into your teaching, through Canvas or in the classroom.
  • List your subject librarian as a resource on course syllabi and suggest students Make an Appointment with Your Librarian
  • Add your librarian in the Librarian role on your Canvas course site.
