UL Remembers Glenda Armstrong

It is with great sadness that we share the unexpected passing of our recently retired colleague, Glenda Armstrong, at the age of 72. In December 2019, Glenda retired from IUPUI University Library as our Acquisitions Supervisor after nearly 50 years of service. Her long tenure with us made her the “Employee with the most years of service in IUPUI University Library history.”

Glenda loved her family, her church, and her job and it was evident in the way she spoke and lived. She was very active in her church, loved spending time with her family, always engaged in conversation with colleagues about their families (especially their children), and was an avid supporter of the Library’s philanthropic efforts. As the winner of the Indiana Library Federation award for Outstanding Library Staff in 1982 and the INCOLSA Outstanding Service to the Library Profession award in 1998, Glenda was dedicated to the work of libraries throughout her career. IUPUI University Library was lucky to be the home of her dedication.

Glenda will forever be remembered as a great leader and resource for her team, a problem solver, the perfect party/pitch-in planner, and one of the nicest people to ever walk the halls of IUPUI University Library. Glenda will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and colleagues and in an effort to preserve her memory, this page has been created for all those that knew and loved her, to share their memories of her.
