Mairelys Lemus-Rojas

Bio:

As the Digital Initiatives Metadata Librarian, I am responsible for the strategic coordination and management of metadata for all IUPUI University Library digital collections. Some of my responsibilities include the assessment and application of metadata principles and practices, ensuring harmonization of metadata standards across collections in each platform, optimizing discoverability in internal and external discovery environments, investigating and implementing improvements to metadata workflows and procedures, identifying priority areas of Wikipedia and sister projects (e.g. Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, etc.) that could be enriched with resources and knowledge from library collections, as well as supporting the development of open knowledge by organizing and hosting Wikimedia related events.

Prior to joining IUPUI, I worked as a Cataloging & Metadata Librarian at the University of Miami Libraries where I was mainly responsible for providing description and access to physical and digital resources for the Cuban Heritage Collection.

I received a Master of Science in Library and Information Studies from Florida State University with a concentration in Web Design/Technology & Networking. I hold graduate certificates in Museum Studies and Information Architecture.
