Payton Memorial Guestbook Entry

Mr. Payton, The one-year fellowship was the first time I learned “for the sake of learning.” It may seem like such a novel concept, but that year I was introduced to a world where every topic -- science, philosophy, religion, politics, math, anything under the sun – was somehow related to philanthropy. I had an incredible thirst for knowledge, and no matter where we went, you taught us to listen, question, wonder, find the deeper connections to it all in life. No matter what I do with my career, I will always have that gift from you. I wish I told you more of this when you were with us, but sometimes it takes some growing up to reflect back and look up on the experiences that made you who you are today. I am eternally grateful to have known you.
