Payton Memorial Guestbook Entry

In about 1986 I met RLP at a conference in New York and my life was to be changed four years later when he recruited me to join the staff of the COP,  which was engaged in an exciting venture to change education of philanthropy in higher education.    He truly was a mentor and guide that gave so much meaning to my own life and professional career in the last twenty plus years.   His kind yet forceful articulation  of the big vision and ideas of what was needed for a healthy democratic society will never be lost. He touched many and I count myself among the lucky  that worked with him directly.
