Computer Usage

Public Computer Usage:

IU students, faculty, and staff should use their university ID and passphrase to login to computers at IUPUI University Library. For assistance using wireless access, launch the 'Live Tech Assistance' app above, or contact a Client Support Technology Consultant at 278-1360 during library operating hours.

All users are required to log-in in order to use the computers in University Library.

Guest Computer IDs are available to patrons over the age of 18 upon presentation of a Photo ID, and their valid IUPUI University Library Borrower's Card with the status of Indiana Resident, for the cost of $1.00. The fee is waived for guests with a current, valid Student/Faculty/Staff ID from another school. The fee is also waived for guests who are members of the Indiana University Alumni Association or Purdue University Alumni Association, with a current membership card. Finally, the fee is waived for those patrons who need to access U.S. government publications online.

  • Students aged 17 and younger, who are not eligible for an IUPUI University Library Borrower's Card, may use their parent or guardian's account, as long as the parent or guardian is present to supervise use of the computer. Students aged 17 and younger who need to use online US government publications should consult our government information librarian, Ted Polley 317-274-8552.
  • Guest Computer ID accounts are only for use on the computers in the University Library. Guest Computer accounts are only valid on the day they are issued. You must request a new ID each day that you would like to use a library computer.
  • Groups, such as high school classes coming in for a scheduled tour, should contact the Circulation desk about setting up Guest Computer Accounts for their participants. For more infromation vist the Information for High School Groups

All computer users must follow University Library's computer use policies. In addition to following these guidelines, it is the responsibility of the Library Guest ID owner to secure the confidentiality of the Library Guest ID and password. Do not share your Guest ID and password with anyone. All lost or stolen Guest IDs should be reported immediately to the University Library Circulation Desk or (317) 274-0472.

The library reserves the right to refuse any Library Guest ID application or revoke any Library Guest ID, if the owner fails to abide by all computing and network policies of IUPUI University Library and Indiana University.

University Library also reserves the right to block the system-wide library privileges of any user if the address on file is no longer valid.
