Meet Our Diversity Scholar 2010 - 2011

As the 2010-2011 IUPUI University Library Diversity Scholar, Victoria Son, an international student from Canada, has spent a great deal of her time developing a variety of projects throughout the academic year. Graduating from the Herron School of Art and Design in May 2011, she has acquired significant experience managing projects, working with a wide group of students, faculty, and staff, and organizing the University Library's diversity efforts. Highlights have included working with the IUPUI Office of International Affairs on displays discussing “Project: Mexico” and promoting the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Peace Corps, as well as collaborating with several student organizations and academic departments throughout the IUPUI campus such as the IUPUI Office for Women, IUPUI Anthropology and Japanese Clubs, and many others. Within the library, Victoria has worked to expand the GLBTQ Research Guide which is available through the IUPUI University Library online research resources, and has assisted with the formation and production of A Film Series Project [] which has screened international films from Nigeria, England, Germany, Japan, and even a locally produced documentary from Anderson, Indiana. Overall, this experience and the people she has been able to work and collaborate with have played a significant role in her undergraduate career, and she is very thankful for it!
