Documentation & Metadata Standards

Documentation and metadata practices and use of specific metadata standards vary by discipline. However, providing contextual information via documentation and metadata is a key step in managing and preserving your data for future use. There are a wide variety of metadata standards, as visualized in this diagram by librarian Jenn Riley. For assistance in selecting documentation and metadata standards appropriate for your discipline, contact the Data Services Program at dataserv@iupui.edu.
